Day 1 : Arrival Yangon

You will meet with your guide at the Arrival Hall of Yangon airport. Transfer to your hotel check in. (Check in at 14;00 noon and early check in depends on room availability).

Take a time at a hidden little gem Café and try tasty local snacks for afternoon chill. Visit to the Kandawgyi Lake you will enjoy a short walk on the wooden bridge to line up along the lake, giving you a stunning view on the Shwedagon pagoda, but also on the royal barge, standing at the side of the lake, Karaweik. Continue your visit to the Kyauk Hta Gyi Pagoda, famous for its impressive reclining Buddha. End the tour at The Shwedagon pagoda for a unique experience to discover the most venerated religious place of Myanmar. Enjoy your welcome dinner.

Day 2 : Yangon-Heho-Inle Lake

In the early morning, transfer to airport and fly to Heho. Upon your arrival at Heho airport, you will be transferred to Nyaung Shwe the gateway of Inle Lake about 2.5 hours. From Nyaung Shwe jetty take a boat. Travel along the canal and unique floating gardens. Enjoy a traditional meal in an authentic Intha house at an island village on the lake. After your lunch, walk through a luxuriant bamboo forest next to the small stream and return to the waiting boat. Visit to famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda with its five Buddha images. Continue to Innpawkhone village to see silk weaving and lotus industries. In the late afternoon, return to your hotel.

Day 3 : Inle Lake

Have your breakfast and visit the floating market for a glimpse of daily life. Proceed your tour to the Pa-Oh village of Indein for 45 minutes by boat. Indein is one of the small villages of Inle Lake on the western bank. You’ll see hundreds of ancient stupas most are ruins overgrown with bushes. The pagoda hill is quiet, calm and mesmerizing view from the hill release the fatigue and refresh everybody who ascend to the peak. Enjoy a Shan picnic lunch and relax in a bamboo forest glade. Travel along the narrow creek, there are twists and turns. Since both the sides are paddy fields you can see the farmers ploughing and harrowing by water buffaloes. It is compulsory to see Novice monks; buffalo boys and village girls wash and swim in the creek.

Day 4 : Inle Lake-Heho-Bagan

OPTION; Balloon Experience Over Inle Lake – flying over the lake in a balloon is one of the most beautiful ways to see this wonder. The skilled pilots carefully use their knowledge of the winds to steer the balloon over the floating villages and water gardens. You will see the morning fishermen looking for the first catch of the day, and boats laden full of produce on their way to the market by the immense labyrinth of canals. At higher altitude, you will be amazed to see thousands of villages houses seemingly floating on the lake. (Note: available only from 15th November to 15th March; all flights weather permitting).

AM: Visit to morning market and the rest of the day is at free and leisure (Boat and Guide service at disposal).

In the afternoon, transfer to airport and fly to Bagan. Upon arrival Bagan airport, transfer to your hotel check in. (Check in at 14;00 noon and early check in depends on room availability).

Day 5 : Bagan - join in cruise

Balloon Experience Over Bagan:    Start your morning with an incredible hot-air balloon flight over Bagan’s temple-studded plains. Have your morning snack on pastries and croissants, and sipping coffee and tea as the balloon is inflated. Climb aboard before gently rising above thousands of gilded stupas and earthen temples all back-dropped by the impressive Ayeyarwady River. A truly unforgettable and unique experience. (Note: available only from 01st October to 31st March; all flights weather permitting).

In the morning, leave from the hotel and join in the cruise. Begins with breakfast in the tranquil gardens of the oldest lacquerware house in Bagan, before passengers visit the nearby Shwezigon Pagoda, famous for its gold leaf décor, and the Ananda temple, one of most exquisite temples in Myanmar. After enjoying lunch on board, passengers continue their exploration of the Bagan Heritage Trail, including the beautiful Sulamani and Gubyaukgyi temples.
In the evening relax with a sundowner or a Signature Strand cocktail viewing the majestic Bagan sunset.
And you will get the chance to see authentic traditional Myanmar Cultural show.
A selection of Myanmar tasty dishes is served at the Strand Restaurant.

Day 6 : On Board

The ship casts off on day two for a relaxing cruise upstream towards Mandalay to enjoy the passing landscapes and villages along the river bank, with scenes reminiscent of the days of Rudyard Kipling and other intrepid explorers who have visited this rugged landscape over the centuries.

Indulge yourself with a comprehensive buffet lunch.

Spending leisure time on board and a sumptuous Strand High tea is served at the restaurant.

Enjoy an afternoon presentation by a renowned speaker, covering a variety of informative topics.

And you are invited to join the Cruise Manager for sundowners on the sun deck.

A dinner of light bites is served as part of the tapas dinner at the Sarkies Bar.

Get the great experience that gives you an introduction to the many rich stories from around Myanmar through a traditional puppet show. Night owls can linger in the bar over a glass of fine wine or single malt whiskey and recreate the golden age of the Strand as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs.

Day 7 : On Board

Leisurely breakfast on board and the ship stops in Mingun, one of the country’s former capitals.

As you spend the morning drifting on the gentle waters of the Ayeyarwady, relax on the sun deck, meditate or visit the spa before partake in some on-board activities and workshops arranged by the experienced crew. The chef will demonstrate how to prepare some of the famous Myanmar dishes such as the tea-leaf-salad and get the chance to create your own culinary delights.

Then the crew will present a thanaka demonstration; a natural product used for cosmetic, variety of medicinal and herbal purposes, followed by a lesson in the art of wearing the famous Myanmar longyi.

Relax over a Thai lunch on-board as you continue to sail.

Ava, the ancient imperial capital of successive Burmese Kingdoms from the 14th to 19th centuries. Horse carts await the ship to transport guests for a delightful ride through the naturally preserved Ava landscape and key landmarks. Enjoy a traditional Myanmar tea break at a local tea house.

Spend the evening with a sundowner or a Signature Strand cocktail.

BBQ dinner will be served at the sandbank (depends on weather and river conditions permitting)

Day 8 : On Board

The ship begins the day with a freshly prepared breakfast while surveying the next and most awaited stop, Mandalay, the second- largest city and the last royal capital of Myanmar. The passengers first stop is the U-Bein Bridge, a crossing that spans the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura. The tour of Mandalay continues as you visit the Mahamuni Buddha, a major pilgrimage site, as well as the teakwood Shwe In Bin monastery, dating from 1895.

Return on board for some relax with a buffet lunch and refreshments.

Stop at Mingun, one of the country’s former capitals. Take the popular local transportation tuk-tuk and visit the famous unfinished pagoda, as well as the Hsinbyume pagoda and Mingun bell.

Celebrated the day with a sundowner on the sun deck.

A celebratory French testing menu is served at the Strand Restaurant.

Day 9 : Mandalay-Yangon Departure (OR) fly to Thandwe (Ngapali Beach)

Enjoy your breakfast and check out in Mandalay. Transfer to Mandalay airport for your flight to Yangon. Visit the famous Bogyoke Market or Scott market (closed on Mondays and Public Holidays). In the late afternoon transfer to airport and depart from Myanmar.

The water level of the river is changing depending on the season. From the months of January to June, the water levels of the Ayeyarwady may drop for a period of a few weeks to a few months, creating a narrower channel for navigation. To accommodate for changes in water levels, Strand Cruise may operate on an adjusted itinerary during these periods and the mooring locations may be amended.
