Day 1 : Arrival Yangon

You will meet with your guide at the Arrival Hall of Yangon airport. Transfer to your hotel check in. (Check in at 14;00 noon and early check in depends on room availability).

OPTION: Transfer with ‘Elephant Coach’, old beautiful Chevrolet was once used to transport dignitaries during the war and has since been painstakingly restored into a luxurious coach with elegant wood and handwoven fabrics decorating the interior.

Take a time at a hidden little gem Café and try tasty local snacks for afternoon chill. Enjoy a short walk on the wooden bridge to line up along the Kandawgyi Lake, giving you a stunning view on the Shwedagon pagoda, but also on the royal barge, standing at the side of the lake, Karaweik. Kyauk Hta Gyi Pagoda is famous for its impressive reclining Buddha, take a short visit to this Pagoda. End the tour at The Shwedagon pagoda for a unique experience to discover the most venerated religious place of Myanmar. In the evening, enjoy your welcome dinner.

Day 2 : Yangon – Bagan

After breakfast, transfer to airport and fly to Bagan. Upon your arrival at Nyaung U airport, you will be transferred to your hotel and check in (please note check in time at 14:00 pm and early check in depends on room availability).

Sightseeing of Bagan’s impressive temples begins with the highest Thatbyinnyu , Gadawtpalin Temple and other well-known temples.

Bagan’s most famous products the lacquer ware and wood crafts workshop are worth to visit and get to learn more about the local culture. Watch as the skilled craftsmen use techniques passed down through generations to create beautiful items. End of the busy day, take a short cruise along the banks of the Ayeyarwady at sunset. Enjoy a delicious Myanmar cuisine dinner.

Day 3 : Bagan

Balloon Experience Over Bagan – Start your morning with an incredible hot-air balloon flight over Bagan’s temple-studded plains. Start your morning snack on pastries and croissants, and sipping coffee and tea as the balloon is inflated. Climb aboard before gently rising above thousands of gilded stupas and earthen temples all back-dropped by the impressive Irrawaddy River. A truly unforgettable and unique experience. (Note: available only from 15th October to 31st March; all flights weather permitting).

You’ll start your bike tour through the plain of temples. You will make several stops to see what’s interesting along the way – maybe a secluded ancient brick monastery where a couple of devout monks still live among the ruins; perhaps the bamboo weavers are at work today, happy to show us their skills. Kids wave from schoolyards and farmers from their fields.

Stop for Ananda and Dhammayangyi, most significant temples with marveling at the workmanship of the construction and beautification internal decoration. Learn about these beautiful temples from your local guide while you have a well-deserved snack break in their shadows. Proceed the tour through typical Dry Zone villages. Small markets & simple shops; chickens, children, pigs and dogs – even the occasional horse – all compete for your attention as you pass.

Next stop is Shwezigon Pagoda, the most revered pagoda in Nyaung U.

After you enjoyed about a 20km bike tour you will be treated to a classic tea shop lunch served in typical Burmese style.

Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at free and leisure in Bagan. (Car & Guide service available).

Day 4 : Bagan – join in cruise

In the morning visit to the Myinkaba Village and Gubyaukgyi Temple, which is noted for its beautiful mural paintings on its inner walls and well-preserved plaster carvings on its exterior. Nearby Manuha Temple and Nanpaya Temple also worth to spend some time.

Next, join in the cruise and start sailing upstream towards Sagaing. Relax as you pass villages set against a backdrop of soft browns, rich tamarind trees, with white and golden pagodas gracing the distant hills. There is no better way to enjoy this riverine picture than from the Kansi panorama lounge.

After lunch a variety of on board activities will be offered including a lounge (sarong) and thanaka (cosmetic) demonstration, a back of house tour, and a talk on Myanmar – covering the country’s incredibly rich history, more recent and controversial events, and prospects for the future.

Day 5 : Sagaing - Amarapura

The morning will be spent sailing as you enjoy the passing countryside. A cooking class with the Executive Chef will be available.

In the afternoon visit the pagoda-sprinkled Sagaing Hill, an important religious and monastic center, home to some 554 monasteries and 6,000 monks and nuns. Here we will visit a Monastic school and orphanage where you will have the opportunity to meet some of the residents and understand the teachings of Buddhism.

Next, take in the views from the top of the hill on the terraces of the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda which are truly breathtaking. Below and all around, pagodas of different shapes and sizes dot the landscape.

Visit the U Bein Bridge, a spectacular place to enjoy the sunset. This long teak bridge snakes across the Taungthaman Lake and each evening you can watch the monks crossing the bridge to collect food donations. This is a very spiritual and time traveling experience.

Day 6 : Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake

Enjoy your breakfast before check out in Mandalay. Transfer to Mandalay airport and fly to Heho. Upon your arrival at Heho airport, you will be transferred to Nyaung Shwe the gateway of Inle Lake about 2.5 hours. From Nyaung Shwe jetty take a boat. The boat travels along the canal and unique floating gardens. Arrive your hotel and check in.

Enjoy exotic and memorable lunch on boat. The boat was transformed into a fully equipped restaurant. The on-board chef prepares your gourmet lunch. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and enjoy exquisite dining.

After lunch, visit to famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda with its five Buddha images. Continue to the Innpawkhone village to see silk weaving and lotus industries.

Day 7 : Inle Lake

OPTION: Balloon Experience Over Inle Lake – flying over the lake in a balloon is one of the most beautiful ways to see this wonder. The skilled pilots carefully use their knowledge of the winds to steer the balloon over the floating villages and water gardens. You will see the morning, fishermen looking for the first catch of the day, and boats laden full of produce on their way to the market by the immense labyrinth of canals. At higher altitude, you will be amazed to see thousands of village houses seemingly floating on the lake. (Note: available only from 15th November to 15th March; all flights weather permitting).

Inle’s daily market is active and busy in the morning. Buy meat and fresh local ingredients for special gourmet lunch. Next, to Intha family house and begin your cooking class. Learn about the Intha food and culture as you share great time with warm local family. As you enjoy your own tasty creation, you will get deeper local experience.

Continue your tour to the Pa-Oh village of Indein for 45 minutes by boat. Indein is one of the small villages of Inle Lake on the western bank. You’ll see hundreds of ancient stupas most are ruins overgrown with bushes. The pagoda hill is quiet, calm and mesmerizing view from the hill release the fatigue and refresh everybody who ascend to the peak. Travel along the narrow creek, there are twists and turns. Since both the sides are paddy fields you can see the farmers ploughing and harrowing by water buffaloes. It is compulsory to see Novice monks; buffalo boys and village girls wash and swim in the creek.

Day 8 : Inle Lake-Heho-Yangon

In the morning, transfer to airport and fly to Yangon. If time permits, visit the famous Bogyoke Market or Scott market (closed on Mondays and Public Holidays). The complex houses hundreds of small stalls where local people use to buy jewelry, tailor made clothes is a good place to buy numerous souvenir items to be memorials of the visit Myanmar. Have lunch and relax at a beautiful oasis in town. After lunch, transfer to airport and depart from Myanmar.

Please Note: All timings shown on this website are for your guidance only.The water level of the rivers is changing depending on the season. From the months of January to June, the water levels of the Ayeyarwady may drop for a period of a few weeks to a few months, creating a narrower channel for navigation. To accommodate for changes in water levels, Sanctuary Ananda may operate on an adjusted itinerary during these periods and the mooring locations may be amended.
